Due to the forthcoming retirement from post of our current Chair, Jeff Champney-Smith, the Board of Trustees is seeking to recruit externally to fill this role. Jeff has held this post for many years and has provided excellent service to Brynawel, its clients, staff and volunteers, in this leadership role.

Based in Llanharan within the County borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff, we are the leading residential centre for the treatment of alcohol and drug dependencies in Wales with a mission to be the centre of excellence for providing high quality professional support and assistance for people experiencing dependency issues.

We are currently looking to appoint an exceptional individual as our new Chair who will bring passion and commitment as well as skills and experience to the board of trustees

In addition to this we are also looking for committed individuals to expand the range of trustee skills who above all are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Brynawel Rehab.

Role Summary: The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfills their duties and
responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.
The Chair will also support, and where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive and ensure that the
Board and Executive work collaboratively to achieve agreed objectives and aims of
the charity.
Who are we looking for? The ideal candidate will have considerable experience of operating at a strategic leadership level, you will also have Board level experience and knowledge of charity governance. Above all, you must demonstrate a strong and visible passion for the cause and have the skills and experience necessary to lead the organisation in a challenging financial environment.
