Our range of treatments offer clients real choice
At the heart of our programme is group based therapy which allows our clients to communicate in a safe and supportive environment and individual therapy enabling us to explore personal issues in greater detail.
Brynawel also specialises in family counselling and offers a range of alternative treatments and experiential therapy programmes specifically focussed on the needs of the individual.
Group therapy forms a major part of the treatment programme at Brynawel Rehab, the group environment allows clients to communicate with and challenge each other, as well as providing an opportunity to receive constructive feedback. These interactions also give participants an opportunity to increase their self-awareness and practice new ways of being and interacting with others in a safe space. Group sessions occur twice daily with reflective time in between.
At Brynawel Rehab every client is assigned an experienced and dedicated primary therapist educated to a minimum standard of post graduate level. Our therapists have a range of skills and theoretical perspectives i.e. person centred, psychodynamic, TA and systemic therapies. They provide clients with a safe, supportive space in which to explore personal issues.
For the vast majority of clients coming to Brynawel Rehab, prolonged periods of dependency have generally overtaken their desire and/or ability to actively participate in life activities. At Brynawel Rehab, experiential learning forms part of the group sessions and takes place within our grounds as well as a number of external settings within the South Wales area, where a clients’ engage in a range of variety of physical, emotional and mental challenges.
Paul Doster, Brynawel Rehab’s Recovery Manager and Lead Therapist is also a qualified Equine Therapist. Equine Therapy is acknowledged as a valuable alternative to talking therapies and an effective approach for alcohol and drug dependent clients. We have two Ponies “Cerys “ and “Dooley” and clients can opt for caring for them, alongside the hens and the ducks which supply the kitchen with fresh eggs.
At Brynawel Rehab we value the role of the family in treating dependency and family counselling forms an integral part of our residential treatment programme. The counselling is often short term and comprises of 6 sessions, although this can be tailored to suit individual client needs.
