Paul Doster, Brynawel Rehab’s Recovery Manager and Lead Therapist is also a qualified Equine Therapist. Equine Therapy is acknowledged as a valuable alternative to talking therapies and an effective approach for alcohol and drug dependent clients. We have two Ponies “Cerys “ and “Dooley” and clients can opt for caring for them, alongside the hens and the ducks which supply the kitchen with fresh eggs.
In addition to this, mindfulness is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a way to prevent depression in people who have had three or more bouts of depression in the past.
There are regular mindfulness sessions, including mindfulness walks.
Becoming more aware of the present moment can help us enjoy the world around us more and understand ourselves better.
When we become more aware of the present moment, we begin to experience afresh things that we have been taking for granted.
“It’s about allowing ourselves to see the present moment clearly. When we do that, it can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives”
We also have support workers trained in both Aromatherapy and Reflexology so clients can make appointments outside of group therapy hours for treatment.
