What is Detox and why it's so important to do safely?
When someone has been using alcohol or other substances regularly, especially in large amounts or over a long period of time, the body can develop a chemical or psychological dependence. When that substance is suddenly reduced or stopped, the body may go through withdrawal—a process that can be uncomfortable, distressing, and in some cases, even life-threatening.

If a heavy drinker stops drinking suddenly without medical supervision, the consequences can be fatal. This can also be true for other substances people develop dependence on but even the milder symptoms can require trained medical professionals to manage.

That’s why detox—the process of clearing substances from the body safely—should always be done with the right support. Medical supervision ensures that the body can adjust gradually and safely, using appropriate medications and monitoring to manage symptoms and reduce risk.

The process of detox can bring up strong emotions, anxiety, and cravings, and being in the right environment is key. A dedicated detox unit not only supports the body’s response to withdrawal—it also provides emotional and psychological care, helping reduce the risk of relapse during this vulnerable time.
Alcohol Detox at Brynawel
Set in nature with extensive grounds, trained medical staff, therapists and support workers onsite, there is no better place for an alcohol detox.

Detox needn't be an unpleasant experience. Our medical staff are there to manage any withdrawl symptoms that may occur so our guests can be comfortable and settled as their bodies adjust and rebalance.

All our bedrooms are ensuite and there are tea and coffee facilities at hand. Food is delivered to the rooms for the duration of the detox and we make every effort to ensure that the experience is as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Our detox and support packages...
Alongside our detox service, we offer our guests a variety of care packages for ongoing support. We strongly suggest that detox is seen as the beginning of a journey rather than a stand alone solution. Once the body is free of substances people often find that they feel the need for some further therapy and support. This is to address the underlying issues around their substance use and also to learn skills to manage cravings, triggers and challenges of daily life.
We offer packages that cater to all of these needs and we can also craft a bespoke package tailored to your needs.
